Tim Davis Rookie Card.
Card Company: Fleer
Year: 1994
Team: Seattle Mariners
Bats/Throws: L
Ht: 5'11
And there you have it ladies and gentlemen the first card of this blog is none other than the 1992 6th round selection of the Seattle Mariners Tim Davis.
Now if you have no idea who the hell this guy is I can't blame you he only played 4 years and accumulated a 6-5 record with a career 4.62 ERA.

However the back of this baseball card would've convinced a lot of people that this minor league flash in the pan would've been a great pitcher. In one season with the Riverside Pilots and the Appleton Foxes (all single A) he posted a combined 13-2 record with a 1.32 ERA with 145 strikeouts in 34 games. Pretty solid.
The transition to the MLB was not a smooth one for young Tim Davis posting a 2-2 Record with a 4.01 ERA and nearly allowed as many walks (25) as strikeouts (28) in 42 games out of the Seattle bullpen. He struggled so much that he couldn't get an everyday rotation spot, a rotation mind you that had 4 guys with an ERA over 6. In short that's not very good.
He only played 3 more years in the MLB never having an ERA under 4.00. However his lack of development didn't hurt the Mariners, as they bounced back from a disappointing 94' campaign and proceeded to make the playoffs 2 out of the next 3 years. This was probably because they had 3 young studs in Ken Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson and Alex Rodriguez.
But imagine just how good the Mariners could've been if Tim Davis had panned out? Imagine the three headed monster that could've been at the top of the Mariners 97' rotation in Randy Johnson, Jamie Moyer and Tim Davis.
Oh what could've been........
