If you have seen one of my previous top 10 list, you'll know my disdain for this stadium quite well. For those of you that haven't, first of all please read it, and secondly make sure to read this.

Oakland, is a good sports city, but it's in danger of losing every sports team they have. The Raiders are moving to Vegas, and the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors are leaving in a few years for San Fransisco. And very soon the A's might be leaving Oakland, as well. However, there is a way to keep the A's in Oakland, the problem is that it will cost some money and by some I mean a lot.

Since 1968 the Oakland A's have called the Oakland Coliseum home. And surprisingly enough when the stadium opened it was a fine place to watch a game. But then Al Davis happened. In order to bring the Raiders back to Oakland the city decided to build a giant "improvement" to the Coliseum in the form of a giant structure in centerfield, obstructing the view of the Oakland Hills. This structure would become known as Mt. Davis.
Multi-purpose stadiums in and of itself are a bad idea, but this stadium is the worst of them all. At least stadiums like the Vet in Philly or Three Rivers Stadiums had no character to begin with. But what make the Coliseum so terrible is that it once had character, in that there was a beautiful view of the Oakland Hills. But then once Mt. Davis was constructed that view was gone, and so was the character of that stadium.
The worst part about Mt. Davis is that it has become nothing more than a giant eyesore for both the A's and the Raiders. A giant tarp now covers all those empty seats, meaning that this "improvement" generates no money and only makes people unhappy. And it shows in the attendance figures, as Oakland is constantly one of the worst attend teams in the MLB. And now with the Raiders leaving for Vegas the A's are stuck in a stadium that no one, including their own fans and players like.

The solution is simple, but as I said before it will cost a lot of money, build a new stadium. Now I know people loathe the idea of getting taxed more so a rich man can get a new stadium, but the situation is dire. The Golden State Warriors are leaving in 2019 and the Raiders will be right behind them in 2020, meaning if you want to save your last franchise you need to do everything in your power to make sure they don't leave.
However, it appears that Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf doesn't understand this because she has allowed every other team in Oakland to leave. And don't think the A's won't try as well they've already expressed interest in moving to San Jose. And if the offers good enough they'll leave Oakland behind like everybody else.
